It seemed a leisurely walk down the mountainside to our destination for tonight Triacastela. To be honest it wasn't all down. In fact the first kilometre was UP... just when we were thinking we were on top of the world, there was more UP.
And other times, the slope seemed to be going down, only to take a sneaky bend and go UP again.
But we made light of the walking, and along with many others stopped at several of the cafe/bars along the way. Very enjoyable indeed.
Spent an enjoyable evening at one of the bars in Triacastella. Delicious paella followed by salmon steak a la plancha. Yum. Some of the funniest discussions ever!!
Talk of Albergue behaviour, particularly men, who seem to often parade around albergues in their undies. New term for me 'banana hammocks'. I learn something new every day.
Another Irish girl talking about the leg muscles she is developing by walking every day. 'Man calves'. Says she won't fit into her jeans after this. Had us in stitches.
9pm and we are back at the Albergue. Lots of space outside here, and people are sitting around enjoying it. We are hoping for sunny weather for the next week, which should see us arrive in Santiago at the rate we are travelling. Haven't worn the shorts I brought for this trip at all. Maybe soon.
Notes to self
- 21.3km walked today
- Triacastela Municipal Albergue 6€ each
- Separate men's and women's facilities, but no screens or separations in showers. Mmm, it's ok when you are first there, before others arrive.
