Is not a sound you expect to hear shouted from a second floor window in a quiet street in the middle of Spain. Certainly caught our attention.
'Hi Lisa, great to see you.' Another chance meeting with some of our original camino family. Always welcome.
Today was a leisurely walk to Sahagún, and also a lesson in tolerance for Lex. 22.7km but seemed to go by fast. Maybe morning events helped.
We got an early start, planning to stop for breakfast at the first village, 6.4km away. Thanks to some very pushy people, Lex got the 'sh#%s', we left and walked on further...
Another 6.2km in fact. So 12.5 km before breakfast, the rest was easy. We had stopped, unloaded packs and while Lex waited to order our usual, I found a power point to charge our ipad. All settled. As Lex waited to order a large group came in and started barking orders at the sole attendant. That was it. We were out of there in a flash. Certainly didn't want to get caught up walking with them either.
All fine, but Lex mouthed off about them for the next few kms. Tolerance.... Still coming
But the upside was that we found a new, really delightful place for breakfast. Even served bacon and eggs, something you don't see much of here.
Nearby we spotted these 'hobbit like' caves in the hill we had read about. Think they were used as wine cellars. Cool.
Amazing sights along the way...
Checked in to the Municipal Albergue. Stunning place. In the attic of a church.
Saturday afternoon in Sahagún
So now, we have been to the market. Bought fruit, nuts and olives. Sure hope we can eat most of it before we walk on tomorrow because don't want to carry that weight. Lol.
Spent the afternoon chatting with old and new friends and discovering more amazing and inspirational stories. Perhaps for another day.
And we also explored some of this amazing place. So much history...
Notes to self
- 22.8km Calzadilla de la Cueza to Sahagun
- Municipal Albergue La Trinidad at Sahagún 4€ and 1€ extra if you want to buy disposable sheet and pillowcase. We did. Might take them with us.
- Market day is Saturday morning. Nice
- Great showers here. Shampoo and liquid soap in showers.
- Wondering how and when lights go out here. No one in charge. Interesting
